PCAS sessions last between 10-12 weeks. During each session, students explore many different forms of art making including painting, print-making, drawing, recycled sculpture, paper-mache, mixed media, clay and more. Working with quality materials and learning new techniques, students use the magic of their imaginations to bring their own stories to life in the studio. By connecting sensory exploration and imaginative directive, we create a powerful learning experience, leading children to become knowledgeable, confident, and independent both inside and outside the studio environment.
Each class begins around the drawing table, exploring a theme while kids draw in their notebooks. During our preschool age classes, we move through the studio together as a group, with popcorn and story time included. During the older age classes, kids spend part of the class moving independently through the studio, working with the 2 or 3-dimensional art media of their choice.
PCAS classes are drop-off classes and we do expect that children are potty-trained and able to be in the studio without their parents. That being said, sometimes it takes a few visits for a child to become comfortable and feel secure in the studio and parents are welcome to stay close by until their child is ready. Some of our art materials are not washable and thus we ask parents to bring children dressed in clothes and shoes that can get messy.
