Portland Child Art Studio is a child-centered space, which has given my girls greater confidence to express themselves as whole people and as accomplished artists. The art classes I took as a child left me feeling low if I couldn't achieve an exact copy of what the teacher was doing; here, instead, the kids are asked to pull from within themselves. The sense of achievement they feel and the freedom to create makes me feel like PCAS is a sacred space. Thank you. -Jen F.
The Portland Child Art Studio offers young people the precious combination of fluid creativity and structure. In a world where our children are pulled out of themselves by media they need a way to find their inner gifts. The Portland Child Art Studio has it! Take them there! -Stephanie M.
What to say about PCAS besides where else can my daughter make a little house filled with pom poms for her tin foil unicorn to rest for the night? And let it be known she did not forget the roof. It was specifically omitted as to not limit the flying capabilities of said tin foil unicorn. And besides, it does not rain where unicorns live so they have no need for roofs. Clearly. But seriously...Lately, in her five year old word everything seems to be a big deal. Complicated, debatable, chaotic, frustrating. It hurts my heart. But the art studio is her place of peace in a week of discontent. She finally shakes loose that negative voice that sometimes manages to cling despite her best efforts. It must feel so good! She makes her own discoveries. Does her own thing. It doesn't need to be broken down and figured out. It just is. So there you have it. Ninety minutes of joy for my sometimes struggling to find joy daughter. And I can see it in her eyes. -Denise P.
My 4 year old daughter received a scholarship to participate in the homeschool art class for 4-9 year olds at Portland Child Art Studio. It was the first time she ever attended a class & her first time participating in a group without me. She was hooked from day one. She loves everything about it, including drawing with pastels, painting, mixing paint colors, using clay, & creating sculptures. The instructors are amazingly patient & provide a relaxing atmosphere. I really appreciate that she is allowed the space to create without coaxing, boundaries, or limitations. She looks forward to attending each week & always leaves class feeling energized and excited about art. -Amy C.

I can't say enough great things about the Portland Child Art Studio. My 5 and 7 year old kids absolutely love going there. The teachers are very talented at letting the kids be individually creative, while maintaining a positive group dynamic. We intended to sign up for one art session, but we loved it so much we hope to go there year-round. We also recently had a birthday party there and it was just perfect for everyone. - Erin L.
